Champion of champions of social care profession to attend the sector's premier awards

The countdown is on to find the overall winners of the Great British Awards. Guests representing all areas of the sector from the region will attend one of two national finals which will take place at the splendid Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. The winners from the 9 regional finals will attend these glittering events for either the home care or care home sector. The care home finals in association with the English Community Care Association, will take place on 12th May. The home care finals in association with Ceretas will take place on 23rd June and are being supported by Carers UK, linking in with National Carers Week.
Throughout October and November 2011 these champions of social care were declared the winners in their region. The awards are part of the Great British Care Awards, a series of regional awards which aims to promote best practice, celebrate excellence and pay tribute to frontline care workers, other social care professionals as well unpaid carers. The 2 national finals are now seen as the sector's premier events and really do showcase the ultimate champions of social care from around the country.
Finalists represent all areas of the sector. From independent residential and nursing home to local authority adult social care departments, charities and specialist providers – one thing they all had in common was they epitomised the nation’s unsung heroes. Without such people quality care for the vulnerable and elderly members of our community would fail.
The awards have attracted massive support both commercially and from the sector, including principle sponsors h.e.t. software, the Department of Health, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), the National Skills Academy for Social Care, the English Community Care Association (ECCA), Ceretas and Carers UK.
These regional winners have been invited to attend the judging days for the national finals which will take place in Spring 2012. It is anticipated that the judges' decision will be harder than ever as the quality of the nominations for the regional awards was higher than ever.
Lisa Carr, a Director of the Great British Care Awards and one of the awards' judges said,

The awards offer a unique opportunity to celebrate the successes of individuals, teams and businesses throughout the UK - people who really do make a positive impact on people’s lives. It has been very humbling to meet such champions of the sector and we are looking forward to celebrating with them for what promises to be 2 superb awards evenings. They are all winners!”
