Commercial and sector partners support Great British Care Awards national finals

21 March 2011

Key figures in social care across the Midlands came together on Thursday 17th March to demonstrate their commitment to promoting excellence and raising the profile of social care by supporting the Great British Care Awards 2011.

Representatives from the care sector from across the midlands attended the Great British Care Awards networking dinner.  The event took place on 17th March 2011 at Holme Pierrepont Hall bringing together key players from local authorities, sector bodies including ADASS, Ceretas and Skills for Care, domiciliary and residential care providers and professional interested parties.

The networking dinner was staged as a platform to launch this year’s Regional Care Awards and the National Finals. In addition the dinner allowed a wide cross section of players to debate real issues being faced by care operators with the benefit of input and views from across the table.

Supported by h.e.t Software the National Home Care and Care Home finals will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice on the 14th May and 11th June 2011. This will see all the winners from the 2010 Regional awards come together to find our overall National winners. Categories across the board will see the support of Housing 21, Mears Group, CACI, Citation, the Royal Bank of Scotland and many more. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the Care Home Final so please enquire for more details.

The Great British Care Awards, supported by the Department of Health, Ceretas, the English Community Care Association, Skills for Care, Adult Social Services (ADASS) and the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), are a series of regional awards which celebrates excellence in social care and pay tribute to those who work in the sector.  The awards are all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working.

There are a total of around eighteen awards categories available for nomination, which represent all areas of the care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care.  From frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training, specialist care and innovation.

People can nominate themselves, a colleague or a company and must accompany their nomination with an account of around 300 words saying why they are worthy winners of an award.  For an entry form call 0115 959 6133 e-mail info@care-awards.co.uk or visit www.care-awards.co.uk All the finalists will be invited to attend a spectacular gala dinner at venues throughout the UK, where the winners will be announced.  The winners from the regional awards will then be invited to attend the National Events at the splendid Guildhall in London, for either Home Care or Care Homes sectors in Spring of 2011.

The awards support a chosen charity, The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund is the registered charity for the Care Sector. here to support current, former and retired care professionals, by providing assistance to relieve financial hardship or sickness. They also provide advice and guidance on the availability of state support and links with debt counsellors

the 9 important and prestigious regional Awards; they are a true celebration of the hard work of all dedicated and committed individuals within the care industry. h.e.t software congratulates all finalists and is looking forward to the two National evens in 2011as the Awards focus attention on the quality, high standards and innovation which prevail in the care industry.”

Lisa Carr, Director of The Great British Care Awards, said,

We were absolutely delighted by the reaction to last year’s inaugural event and the response again this year has been fantastic! If anyone needed convincing that – in these economically challenging times – there is a desire to celebrate excellent social care in England, then the embracing of our awards demonstrates just that!  We look forward to the national finals which will showcase the crème de la crème of the social care workforce and to rolling out the regional awards later in the Autumn.”
