Hosts for the Great British Care Awards National Finals Announced

The Great British Care Awards are delighted to announce the hosts for this year’s two national awards finals. Kate Garraway will host the finals for the Great British Home Care Awards on 14th May and Christopher Biggins, will host the finals for the Great British Care Home Awards on 11th June. Both events will take place in the spectacular Royal Courts of Justice in London.
Finalists from the 9 regional awards which took place in Autumn 2010 will be will be wowed by the grandeur of this prestigious Victorian building, one of the last great wonders of Gothic revival architecture in England. Guests will be invited to attend a champagne reception in the Costume Gallery which showcases the true purpose of this esteemed building, housing an impressive collection of historical legal robes. Following this a gourmet four course meal will be served in the Great Hall where the winners of up to 17 categories will be announced hosted by one of the nation’s much loved personalities, Kate Garraway or Christopher Biggins.
Kate Garraway has been a household name since 2000 when she became one of main presenters on GMTV. She has diversified into entertainment hosting such shows as ‘Loose Women’, ‘This Morning’ and ‘The British Soap Awards’. She delighted us with her unorthodox dancing skills on BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing and is currently the Entertainment Editor on the brand new ITV1 breakfast show ‘Daybreak’.
Christopher Biggins was crowned King of the Jungle in 2007 on ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’. Since leaving the Jungle he has made numerous TV appearances both at home and abroad. Aswell as numerous panto appearances Christopher is best remembered for his performances as Emperor Nero in the award winning BBC series I Claudius and then as Reverend Ossie Whitworth the wicked vicar in the hugely popular series Poldark also for the BBC, and of course Lukewarm in the BBC series of Porridge.

The awards aim to promote best practice within the sector and pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. The awards are all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers, promoting joint working. Support has been forthcoming from across the sector including the Department of Health the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), Skills for Care, Ceretas and the English Community Care Association, together with the commercial sector and local authorities.
