An organisation which focuses on care across all levels – whether for the individuals they are supporting or their employees, there is a clear wellbeing focus along with a balanced approach towards effective training and development opportunities for staff and an offering of various unique initiatives. Each employee having a wellbeing plan and access to the wellbeing centre were stand out initiatives. The integration with the community was also excellent i.e. the prosperity festival.

We loved how the company looks at each employee as an individual, for example allowing an employee to have 6 months off when really needed. We also thought the wellbeing champions and focus on wellbeing was great. The management came across as open and approachable and the community integration with the police and CQC were stand out elements. We also liked the innovative approach used when a problem arose i.e. re the sleep-in rules.

Nadyne is keen to progress but to never lose her time caring for the people she supports and her colleagues. Nadyne has thought carefully about the people she supports. Nadine prioritised the people in her care above her family when they were needed, supporting Christmas morning to ensure all had a lovely day. Nadyne ensured all the people she supports were able to communicate with their love once, utilising technology when needed e.g. one person had a virtual Christmas dinner with their family who lived in Canada. Nadine caring nature includes the nomination for this award, as she plans to go shopping and have some make up practice with a lady who she supports who previously was an expert in fashion.

Amy has nursing ambitions but has been working hard to learn about health and social care. Amy has studied a person’s diagnosis in her own time to help her understand that person’s journey to ensure they receive every level of support possible. 13. The Putting People First Award

Utilising intensive interaction to help the staff team to understand the persons supported and to develop a model of care that reflects the person. Milly and Mike have worked hard to develop relationships with professionals which has enabled them to develop an effective approach to healthcare which reflets the outcomes which is likely to impact on the outcomes identified via LEADER reports. The team have reached out to their community who have responded by embracing the people supported and their staff team. the team reported addressing many of the areas identified in the quality of life outcomes as highlighted by CQC.

The croft lodge team described their feelings of privilege in supporting people’s final journey and their families. The team listen to all involve, consider capacity and consent in all areas of support. The team go above and beyond to provide support throughout their life and after they have passed. the team describe that they consider how to prepare a person for the funeral director, by ensuring they are wearing their favourite clothes and holding valuable objects. With one funeral procession making a detour past Croft Lodge so the staff could say goodbye. the team ensure the family and friends of the person are supported to the best of their abilities. The team have developed positive relationships with other professionals to ensure all staff members receive appropriate training and the people supported wishes are respected. The team truly believe in listening to the person and doing the things which are meaningful for the person
