The Social Care Covid Hero Award

Individual: Rosemary Johnson, Summerdyne Nursing Home

As Team Leader Rose was given the responsibility of keeping everyone safe throughout the Covid pandemic. Working extremely long hours for weeks at a time, Rose was responsible for containing a serious outbreak of Covid in her care home and it is testament to the outstanding care that she and her team provided that not a single service-user was ever hospitalised through Covid.  A case of “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!”

The management team displayed awe-inspiring acumen, energy and determination in implementing every conceivable safety measure to protect their residents and staff from Covid. They also showed great imagination and creativity in devising activities to ensure that daily life for residents remained as happy and fulfilling as possible.
