The Great British Care Awards are delighted to announce the winners of the awards for the South East, the South West, East of England and London regions.
The Great British Care Awards, supported by the Department of Health and HET Software, are a series of regional awards which celebrates excellence in social care and pay tribute to those who work in the sector. The awards are all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working.
The winners of these awards have been invited to attend a judging day for one of two national finals which will take place at the spectacular Guildhall in London, where they will join winners from the North and Midlands regions, and compete for the national awards title.
There are two finals, one for the home care sector which takes place on 15th May in association with Ceretas, the membership organisation representing home care. The second final is for those working in the care home sector and takes place on 5th June in association with the English Community Care Association, the association representing community care in England.
In Autumn 2009 the inaugural Great British Care Awards were held in 5 regions throughout the North and the Midlands and were a resounding success. In October and November this year the series of regional awards will include the South and the East of England.
The Great British Care awards have received nominations and support from all corners of the sector. Sector support includes the Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), Skills for Care, Ceretas and the English Community Care Association. Local Authority support and commercial organisations are also supporting the awards.
There are a total of around eighteen awards categories available for nomination, which represent all areas of the care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care. From frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training, IT and innovation.
Nominations came in from all corners of the sector and the regions and successful candidates invited for interview for the national finals. The gala award evenings will start in style with a champagne reception, followed by a superb gourmet dinner and the awards presentation with celebrity presenter. Keith Chegwin will host the National Home Care Final and Fiona Philips the National Care Home Final. Following the awards guests are invited to extend the celebrations at an after party on the magnificent Dutch Master, a 3 decked boat, which will cruise along the river Thames – a perfect finale for what promises to be a wonderful evening.
The awards support a chosen charity, The Maggie’s Centre, which has sites across the country supporting people who lives have been impacted upon by cancer.
