The Care Home Activity Co-ordinator Award

Caittie Callaghan, Minster Care Group

Cattie talked me though a tree that was behind her in her interview with all the residents faces on each tree, and she said that when a patient passed away a leaf would fall off the tree to show everyone who had left the tree. she informed me of her experience during Covid 19 whereby residents were dying in her arms and so many leaves fell of the tree, but it allowed for everyone to understand and process the loss in the home. she felt supported and briefed by her organisation and said that from their support and guidance she is now thriving to continue her career in health and social care and wants to grow, just like the tree, she needs water to develop and reach the top. This absolutely gave me as the judge goosebumps as the tree was visual during the interview and watching Caittie demonstrate it to me whilst embracing the loss through her story. The home should have recognition for such a fantastic idea as it clearly works.
