Martin’s passion for the job just shines through. Enthusiastic and engaging, Martin shared some inspirational stories. Martin has made a positive difference to the lives of the people he supports and said care work is more about heart and less about the pay package.

Louise is a bubbly and engaging person, demonstrating a passion for the job that is palpable. She truly loves her job and the fact that she gets to make a positive difference to people’s lives everyday.

 

The Care Newcomer Award

Despite having no prior experience, Chloe is a remarkable and dedicated newcomer to the sector who makes a real difference to those she cares for. Endlessly patient and conscientious, Chloe is true asset to social care and will undoubtedly go far.

 

The Care Home Registered Manager Award

Winner – Sam Noble, Proudfoot Care Group

A creative and exceptional leader who believes that everyone has the right to a life lived with meaning and purpose. Sam’s passion and ambition for the possibilities for the people she supports is impressive. Sam has a background in the military as a medic and is passionate about people with a clear focus on respect and dignity.

 

Highly commended – Amiray Chilton, Esk Hall Care Home

Amiray has been working in care since taking her A’levels. She is an asset to the care sector and her organisation, starting as a senior care assistant now the home manager. Amiray considered going into nursing at one point but ultimately stayed in care as she loves helping people and the intrinsic sense of purpose care work gives you.

 

 

The Home Care Registered Manager Award

Winner – Sara Booth, Complete Care West Yorkshire

An outstanding manager who supports her staff to provide a quality, person centred service.  Sara works in partnership with other providers to raise standards and the profile of social care.  Her passion and determination to succeed is admirable!

 

The Care Home Chef Award

Winner  – Alex Tomlinson-Wood, HC-One

Alex demonstrates a high level of best practice modelling within his work. He demonstrates actions that have brought significant improvements to his kitchen which helps to meet the needs of people they support to a high level of satisfaction considering their health and wellbeing and personal preferences.

 

Highly commended – Helen Hare, Exemplar Health Care

Helen clearly has a great passion for her role and prides herself on bringing homestyle cooking to the residential setting. Helen works hard to recognise people’s individual taste and preferences and supports the kitchen team to train to meet the needs of people they support.

 

The Dignity in Care Award

Winner – Christine Middleton, Continued-Care

Christine is clearly in love with her work and genuinely makes an incredible difference to people’s lives in a dignified and respectful way. She is very knowledgeable about the importance of dignity in care and ensures the best possible outcomes for those under her care.

 

Highly Commended – Francesca Santo, Westwood Care and Support – Dales House

Francesca is passionate about dignity in care and moves mountains to make sure her service users feel safe and respected with dramatic positive outcomes. A highly motivated and positive individual, she is well deserving of this award.

 

The Dementia Carer Award

Winner – Janet Thompson, The Rainbow Care Group

Janet is very passionate and caring person, maintain great relationships with all individuals she works with. Janet always put’s the client first. She has great knowledge of dementia and she makes sure all her clients are treated with care and respect as individuals.

John is very personable and takes the time to get to know his clients, an approach to care that is always important, but especially so in dementia care. John should be very proud of the impact he has on those around him.

 

The Care Home Team Award

Winner – The Glynn, Bond Care

Jake is so thankful for his staff team who have all gone above and beyond with this service. They are bespoke team focusing mainly on eating disorders and mental health and can be faced with very challenging situations. Every and every team member go above and beyond in all they do for the residents

Complete Care West work closely together to support each other in ensuring the best for their clients, supporting each other and ensuring everyone has the right skills and tools to do their job effectively.

Sherree and her team work together to meet the needs of a mixed client group, ensuring they all receive the care they need. The team has a strong communication network and are able to ensure they are always able to provide good quality care.

 

The Activity Co-ordinator Award

Winner – Joanne Meredith and Katie Pickering, Anchor

Jo and Katie seem to bounce off each other and work great as a team being able to add meaningful activities to the lives of their residents – they understand what meaningful activities are any how to encourage extra stimulation for each of their residents

Kim has taken to this role marvelously well and is making huge changes for the residents to improve their life – Kim has a great mind to understand person centered care and is able to adapt to different situations well.

 

The Ancillary Worker Award

Winner – Mark Darbyshire and John Dean Maintenance, Dearnvale part of Exemplar Health Care

Despite their differing football loyalties, these two finalists work amazingly well together to bring a great deal of joy and sense of satisfaction to the lives of the people living in their service. Their commitment and passion really shone through.

Jenny’s experience in hospitality gives her a strong customer focus, coupled with that lovely bubbly personality and caring nature, Jenny is a huge asset. Her passion for her work is inspiring and contagious.

The Care Innovator Award

Winner – Matthew Nutting, Radfield

Matthew could see how important it is that staff who work in care are valued correctly and is leading the way to ensure fair pay and conditions match the role and responsibility of the job. His initiative to bench mark and use his own organization prove it can be done.

 

Highly commended – Sharon Giller, Medication Management group

Sharon is so passionate about ensuring the safety of people who live in care homes and has set up a unique training and audit package around medication which not only prevents errors but gives people the right tools so that everyone in the care home benefits.

 

The Frontline Leaders Award

Zoe is an all-round frontline leader who has undertaken lots of new roles, bringing new ideas and building upon the strong relationships she has with the people she supports and her colleagues. Zoe is one to watch for the future.

Lynne showed dedication to her role and her residents and goes above and beyond to ensure their needs are met – whether that is in the home care setting or in a hospital setting. Lynne is incredibly dedicated to ensuring all health professionals have the correct training to support someone with a learning disability or mental health problems.

Julie is a holistic practitioner showing compassion and using her expanse of knowledge and experience to improve the lives of service users in her care. She is continually striving to improve continuity of care and ensuring services are integrated across health and social care.

 

The Housing with Care Award

This is a service that proudly promotes and works hard (including with other services) to support the integration for people who have a mental health condition into their own local community actively supporting to create a sense of well-being, belonging and fulfilling life opportunities.

The service has a clear passion for ensuring the service is designed and inclusive of the people that they support as well as supporting people to access activities they choose and enjoy They have not been afraid to advocate for the rights of people they support to access their local community without discrimination.

Bernadette found her true vocation in dementia care. She is an amazing, inspiring leader who has set up 3 innovative facilities providing outstanding care. Through research, continual learning and moving forward Vida allows residents to thrive. Bernadette’s passionate commitment supports her staff empowering to be their best selves.

 

Highly commended – Katie, Leeds Autism Services Team

Katie has engaged with other organisations to build a knowledge base and provide a comprehensive and innovative autism service offer. As Operations Director she uses out of the box thinking to create a personalised care service.

 

The Social Care Covid Hero Award

Individual – winner – Liz Whyte, HC-One

Liz was contemplating slowing down and taking semi-retirement when Covid hit. She took on the role as Covid lead for the whole company with over 300 homes. Liz’s approach did not feel corporate, but personal. Her care and commitment for every resident, their loved ones and staff member, really shone through.

 

The Social Care Covid Hero Team Award

Winner – Pete Hughes, Leeds Autism services

Pete led his team to continue to provide support at a time when similar services were closing their doors. Without guidance specific to their services, Pete and his team adapted existing guidance and provided quality information to the people they support, and used feedback to make safe and sensible decisions about how best to continue working safely. Pete is exceptionally proud of the team.
