Having worked in social care for over 9 year, Michelle is clearly experience and effective in her role. Dedicated and hardworking, she is always looking for ways to improve the lives of those she supports. She is a compassionate, dedicated worker and a worthy winner of this award.

 

The Home Care Worker Award

Winner – Michelle Orange, Everyday Care & Support

Michelle has worked in care for 37 years and so dedicated her life to the sector. In spite of this fact, Michelle remains humble, and sees her role as “just doing my job to support people in the way that they want.” If I were needing support I would hope I had a “Michelle” on my case!

 

Highly Commended – Natalie Plume, Blossoms Home Care

Natalie is clearly an amazing care worker, continuing to uphold the highest quality care even in the face of a mentally and physically challenging workload. It takes a certain, special type of person to do the role, and do it so well: Natalie is with out a doubt the woman for the job and many can learn from her example.

 

The Care Newcomer Award

Winner – Simon Dogherty, Bluebird Care North Tyneside/ North Northumberland

Simon is clearly a very passionate person who wants to make a difference in people’s lives. He recognises and emphasises the role or the family and support networks in care work. His sense of duty and commitment to those he cares for make him a well deserving winner.

 

Highly commended – Joanne Price – Blossom Home Care Durham

Joanne is exceptional at what she does, despite being a newcomer to the sector. Her passion and dedication will see her far, and I expect she will continue to grow and grow in her career journey.

 

The Care Home Registered Manager Award

Winner – Sharon Harrison, Anchor

Sharon showed clear leadership with an attitude that impressed the judges. Sharon was able to articulate how to get the best from her team and therefore supporting them to deliver outstanding care. She was so passionate for everyone in her care and was always looking at ways to improve.

Marie showed outstanding commitment and dedication to her role and her service over the last two years even when faced with her own personal challenges. Her passion for care really stood out and she is a great advocate for the sector as a whole.

 

The Home Care Registered Manager Award

Winner – Claire McCabe, National Care Group

Claire is passionate about, and incredibly effective in, promoting a positive workplace culture that is empowering, person-centred, and inclusive. Her leadership style is highly motivating, infectious even, as she leads by example for those she works with. She is more than deserving of this award.

 

Highly commended – Tammy Naylor, CIC

Tammy’s leadership is exceptional as she champions good practice, compliance, and a positive and empowering workplace culture. Her communication skills are also highly commendable, as she ensures service users, frontline and management staff are all on the same page and thus working as effectively as possible.

 

The Care Home Cook/Chef Award

Winner – Kendra Mannion, Anchor

Kendra’s innovative approach is what set her apart from the rest. When faced with the problem of residents with dementia eating only finger food, rather than relying on sandwiches for every meal, she went above and beyond to provide food that was colourful, nutritious, enticing and is easy for people with dementia to eat. She is an asset to those she works with and the residents she cooks for.

Mark’s employers are so very lucky to have him. He was inspirational, passionate and a force to be reckoned with. If only every home could have a Mark. It’s obvious he loves his job and wants to be the very best there is.

 

The Dignity in Care Award

Winner – Clare Gregg, Akari Care

Clare gave us great examples of how she champions dignity and delivers person centre care, ensuring the people she supports know they have choices and rights. Clare clearly leads and coaches her teammates in doing the right thing. Families tell her that the greatest gift she gives their loved one is her time.

 

Highly commended – Jackie Swaddle, Churchlake Care

Jackie impressed us with the routines and practices she has introduced into her new role. She has shared best practice across her team and is very clear about the standards of dignity and respect that every person deserves. Jackie demonstrated a strong connection with the people she supports and their families.

 

The Dementia Carer Award

Winner – Aileen Beatty, Akari Care

Aileen impressed the judges with her commitment to ensuring that her teams are equipped with the skills and confidence to care for individuals living with dementia and willingness to lead by example and role model care provision. A worthy winner – well done Aileen!

This incredible team support one another in order to provide the very best person centred care.  They go above and beyond both as group and individually and are truly dedicated to caring for the residents.

 

The Home Care Team Award

Winner – Five Lamps Home Care, Billingham

Dale is very passionate when talking about his team and the commitment they showed over a very difficult time to ensure the flawless delivery of care to their clients. By working closely with the new organisation and the full team coming across, Dale ensured the residents felt as little disruption to their care packages as possible. To be so effective during such tricky circumstances is truly an achievement.

 

The Care Home Activity Organiser Award

Winner – Hazel Hill, Bond Care

Starting at Bond Care less than 2 years ago, Hazel managed to completely transform the company’s activity provision. Keeping both the mental and physical health of residents in mind, Hazel takes a holistic approach, providing individualised activities for those she looks after to ensure their wellbeing. You couldn’t ask for anything more in a finalist for this award!

 

The Ancillary Worker Award

Sandra Cooper, Popular Care

Sandra has spent her life caring for others. Her kindness and commitment to the people she supports shines through. She is genuinely interested in the life stories of the people she supports and is a true team player. Congratulations Sandra.

 

Highly commended – Kelly Merrit, Popular Care

Kelly impressed the judges with her ability to make connections with the people she supports, going out of her way to find out about the life and experience that people have had. It makes her day seeing the joy on people’s faces when things go well and is compassionate and supportive on the bad days we can all have. She is deserving of high commendation for this award.

 

The 3 Rs Award

Winner – David Johnson, My HomeCare Assistance

David clearly values the 3 R’s, and the judges were particularly impressed by his promotion of an electric bike scheme and running / walking club with his team. Literally going the extra mile, David exemplifies all that you could expect in recruitment, retention and recognition, and is a worthy winner of this accolade.

 

The Workforce Development Award

Winner  – Chris Bonner, HC-One

Chris is a driving force in his organisation, leading on training to an array of staff in many different settings to ensure they are giving nutritious and lovely food to the people that reside in the homes of the organisation. He has managed to train staff in a way that enables them to understand the person as well as the food that is served to them, keeping this service person centred to the individual.

 

The Care Innovator Award

Winner – Community Integrated Care & Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021)

This idea born from people with LD and the aspirations they have is an outstanding achievement. It is inspirational for those with a disability to know that if they want to achieve here are over 300 volunteers that can show you. The people involved have loved every minute of their journey from making cakes for the Rugby League captain to creating a Rap song with a well known rap artist for the Rugby League. You can be assured that there will be more viewers watching out for the volunteers this year.

Having joined the Resolve Care team over 5 years ago, Jason has been setting an example of strong leadership from the beginning. His positive, hand-on approach to care is what’s sets him apart and makes him particularly effective in his role.

Winner – Selina Beardmore, Keyfort Group

Selina is a team player first and foremost, putting the needs of those around her above all. She is known to drop what she is doing to assist someone else and is incredibly patient and supportive toward her fellow team members. She always has time to listen to others, a trait that makes her a truly effective frontline leader.

 

The Home Care Coordinator Award

Winner – Alex Rose, Everyday Care and Support

Despite Alex only working in care for a short period, her enthusiasm and passion really stood out. Alex has progressed well over the past 3 years and after speaking with her today we can see why she is so valued by her company.

 

The Care Assessor Award

It was very clear that Kelli is extremely passionate, she was very caring and when she was talking about her staff and residents we could feel the warmth in her words. Kelli came across as a very humble person who simply wants to make a difference.

Katie came across as extremely professional and passionate about the role that she has. It was clear that Katie cared very much about person centred support and her inclusion of families was commendable.

The Albert Street team are really inspiring and truly put clients first. Maintaining a sharp focus on

rapport and interaction they also take care to promote a sense of individuality in those they care for. They are very deserving of this award and should be proud!

The team’s moto is believing that everyone is ‘A unique human’ This dynamic team share a sense of purpose, to deliver person centred support, promote independence and wellbeing.  They go above and beyond using creative approaches to ensure that a Good Life is lived by everyone they support.

 

Highly commended – Northview Lodge Care Team, HC-One

This team exemplify the category ‘putting people first’ working well together to ensure best client outcomes. You can tell they really care about the thoughts and opinion of those they look after, giving visitors to the home a feedback sheet so that they can continue to provide an excellent and ever improving service.

 

The Palliative Care Award

Winner – Mitzie Lewin Kidd, Blossom Home Care

Mitzie is genuinely interested in the needs of the client and the family and is supportive of both. She makes her colleagues and clients say ‘wow’ to her approach time and time again as she intuitively knows what people need, often before they realise they need it themselves.

 

Highly commended – Pamela Riley, Hill care

Pam is truly passionate about her role and really emphasises the pleasure she takes in her work. She clearly has a big heart and is always wanting to learn about the lives of the people she supports in end of life. Kind and compassionate she is everything you could look for in a palliative carer.

 

The Housing with Care Award

Winner – Heather Davis, Sanctuary Supported Living

If anyone else on the team has the same energy and passion for the job as Heather then I am not surprised that this team are delivering such a high standard service. They will take on those clients that others feel they cannot support and ensure best client outcomes. You can tell Heather finds her role incredibly rewarding, which shines through in her work.

 

The Social Care Nurse Award

Winner – Aidrian Anim, NHS

Adrian began his career 8 years ago supporting learning difficulties and has been ensuring best client outcomes ever since, achieving accreditation for his work in the Nursing Times. He clearly has a passion for learning and development ,and aims to educate the younger generation and inspire them.

Nicola is clearly passionate about the work she does and is always there to support residents , relatives and staff. She is proud of the work she does and maintains a laser focus on person centred care at all times. She is a true inspiration and much deserving of high commendation.

Anne has been the administrator in Blar Buidhe Care Home for 29 and a half years. She has worked tirelessly over almost 3 decades to support residents, their families and her colleagues. Living and working in a small island community, Anne has become so well known and well liked for her immense dedication to her quiet but essential role within the service.

Kirsty is passionate about the work she does and strives to nurture the progress of others around her. She is dedicated to the team and has a thirst for improvement and progression. A woman whose contribution can only be described as ‘outstanding’ she is clearly invested in the future of the sector.

 

The Social Care Covid Hero Award

Winner – Steve Messey, Solehawk Limited

Steve is an active leader who ensured he was connected with staff and families during the pandemic.  Always going the extra mile to be visible, reachable and responsive, this approach ensured good management of care across both England and Scotland. Steve should be very proud of his efforts during the pandemic and beyond.

 

The Social Care Covid Hero Team Award

Winner –  Darlington Rapid Response Team, Making Space

Deftly and expertly responding to the increased emergency workload catalysed by the pandemic, the Darlington Rapid Response Team proved themselves to be a vital lifeline for many during covid. Ensuring both physical and mental wellbeing, when clients couldn’t see their families the rapid response team geared up with PPE to talk and comfort those in need.

The Your Voice Your Choice team’s efforts during the pandemic are truly deserving of high commendation, providing a vital wellbeing service to combat isolation and alienation during such troubling and uncertain times.
